What is Chickenpox ?

Chickenpox is a highly contagious illness caused by Varicella Zoster Virus which spreads in individual by direct contact or by air from an infected person's coughing or sneezing. Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) also known as human herpes virus 3 (HHV-3).

How it Spread?

  • It spreads in individuals by air, if someone is near to infected person (By coughing/sneezing).
  • A pregnant woman who has chickenpox can pass infection to her baby.
  • It spread by touching the spit of a person who has chickenpox. VZV enter in the body by the nose or mouth.


  • It causes a red spots , itchy skin rash on the fewer place of body then later spreads to almost everywhere on the body. The red spots turn into small blisters that dry up and form scabs over about a week.
  • Kids may have a fever, sore throat, headache, before the rash appears.
  • Chickenpox lasts 7 to 10 days in children and longer in adults.
  • Adults can feel very ill and take longer to recover.


  • Avoid spicy, hot, or acidic food.
  • Keep patient at home to avoid infection to others.
  • Take Antiviral medicine
  • Apply Vitamin E Oil to get fast relief.
  • Frequent baths can help to relieve itching.
  • A lotion can be applied to the blisters to help dry them out and soothe the skin.
  • Keep your fingernails short and frequently wash your hands 

Chickenpox is not related in any way to chickens.
