What is Measles?

Measles is a highly contagious, serious disease caused by a virus in the paramyxovirus family which infects respiratory system. The measles virus normally grows in the cells that line the back of the throat and lungs. Measles is a human disease and is not known to occur in animals. Measles also known as Rubelola

Signs and symptoms:-

  • High Fever
  • Cough
  • Runny nose
  • Red eyes
  • Total-body skin rash

Transmission:- 

Measles virus spreads by coughing and sneezing, close personal contact or direct contact with infected nasal or throat secretions.

Treatment:-

There is no specific treatment for measles. Patients with uncomplicated measles recover with in a time frame with the standard guidance which includes rest, supportive treatment and prescribed Antibiotics to treat eye and ear infections, and pneumonia.

Prevention : - Do a Vaccination for your children; this is best way to prevent them from the measles virus.
